Handmade Moccasins

Handmade Moccasin Timelapse – Here is my first video of hand-making moccasins.

As the summer rolled into fall the time to start learning how to make moccasins was approaching.  Before I spent more time up by Jim at his workshop learning, he gave me the pieces to make my first pair.  This pair was made from an oil tanned cowhide.  Since I didn’t have a sewing machine at the time. I had to make this by punching all of the holes manually before stitching. I used a three hole punch to mark out where all of the stitches would have to go.  It was important to line all the holes up on the collar and vamp of the moccasin otherwise wouldn’t have been even.  This was truly a learning experience as I had only made smaller leather goods before trying to make the handmade moccasins.

I am wearing a pair of size 9 Minnetonka soft soles I bought about 15 years ago. My feet have changed and they are just slightly small. I would like a new pair in the “blue” color. I have no idea what size to order. HELP
